The SocaMotion Varsity Squad™ is our initiative to encourage an active lifestyle and awareness of Caribbean culture on college campuses. It is a network of schools that engage in SocaMotion fitness and wellness initiatives that encourage active living, stress management, healthy eating habits and more. Fight the "freshman 15" and maintain active at a time when the temptation is strong to just sit and study. Habits developed at this point of your life will carry through adulthood. This is also a great way to raise money as a student organization as you can be trained to become a Varsity Rep™.
Move Your Mas....just after class! ;-)
This idea was the brainchild of Onya West shared in September 2010 and has currently spread to universities in New York and out-of-state. Any college or university organization can participate by either selecting to be mentored by a SocaMotion instructor located nearby or being trained remotely to lead their own classes. This program is not just exercising on campus. It also involves wellness activities to deal with stress management, nutrition, and more.
